Well well well, by pure happenstance I dropped a pin here when requesting and Uber, and little did I know, I stumbled into the oldest and possibly best bar in Tucson. It’s a small space with primarily bar top seating, along with a pool table, a juke box, and a handful of tables. It was a Friday night, and boy it was busy! The staff were kind and welcoming to us Phoenicians and were happy to give us the low down on how the Buffet worked. Turns out they give everyone a free round at certain times of the night, which is a really fun and unique ritual. Beers on tap are very limited, but I was happy enough with the canned beers available. Jell-O shots are also super popular here. The Buffet offers a smorgasbord of people watching and interesting interactions, and is a fantastic place to either begin or end your night.

Everytime I come to Tucson, I make sure to stop by and have a Coors (or 3). It is a great mix of townies and students with everyone set on having a great time. The music selection is timeless and Lee Marvin used to drink here. I remember the owner, Ted, from when I was a student and his legacy lives on.

The Buffet Bar in Tucson, AZ, holds the esteemed title of being the oldest dive bar in the city. Walking in, you're greeted with dim lighting, eclectic decor, and a lively ambiance. It's the kind of place where you feel immediately at home, whether you're a regular or a first-timer. The vibe is relaxed, and you can sense the history of the place as soon as you step through the door. It's worth noting that this dive bar has seen its fair share of stories; from chance meetings that led to marriage, to heartbreaks like my own from 35 years ago. The drink selection at The Buffet Bar is impressive for a dive. From ice-cold beers to classic cocktails, they've got something to satisfy every thirst. The bartenders, like the affable Robin, are not only skilled but also have a sense of humor. When my friend dared to order a pomegranate juice martini, Robin couldn't help but smile and gently remind him that he was at a dive bar. It's moments like these that add to the charm of The Buffet Bar. One of the highlights of The Buffet Bar is the excellent service. The staff, including Robin, is attentive, quick to take your order, and always ready with a recommendation if you're not sure what to drink. They're also happy to chat and make you feel welcome, adding to the laid-back atmosphere of the bar. The Buffet Bar knows how to do happy hour right. Arriving around 5 pm, we were delighted to find that promptly at 6 pm, we received a token for buy one and get a free drink. It's a small gesture, but it made the experience even more enjoyable and ensured we stayed a little longer to soak in the atmosphere. If you're looking for a no-frills dive bar with great drinks, friendly service, and a cool vibe, The Buffet Bar is the place to be. It's the kind of place where you can kick back, relax, and enjoy a few drinks with friends without any pretension. Whether you're a local or just passing through Tucson, be sure to stop by and experience it for yourself.

WHOA!! A Throwback to decades past! Handwritten messages and stickers adorn the walls & even the ceilings in an homage to the past & present! This Oldest Bar in Tucson, since 1934, is a place to have that drink, meet people from al walks of life and maybe enjoy some Spirits. The old world vibe is definitely here as well as the laid back feeling as you watch pool being played & enjoy sounds from the jukebox ! It's a bit on the smaller side but it's size seems to add to the ambience. So bring a friend to watch a game or place some pool or just enjoy a cold brew and some snacks...it's a definite must go.

Classic dive bar with a laid-back atmosphere and plenty of character. It’s the perfect spot for a cold drink, great conversation, and a dose of nostalgia. The staff is friendly, the drinks are affordable, and the jukebox adds a fun touch. It’s a no-frills, old-school bar that’s been a local favorite for decades. If you’re looking for a relaxed spot with great vibes, this place is worth a visit!

Visiting from Washington, only bar I wanted to visit twice. First time was able to sign the wall, which I always enjoy. Second time staff was amazing, Jerica was great! Really nice to be able to talk to the bartender and get to know the local scene, cool 11 o clock special too! Kept me from my 1 drink per bar night in anticipation for it. Really enjoyed this place. Highly recommend for visitors!!

If you find yourself in Tucson looking for a good time, you have to stop at The Buffet. The staff is fast, friendly, and fun. As long as you follow the most important rule. Don't be a jerk and TIP YOUR BARDTENDERS! Shufleboard, pool table, and fun times. And the jello shots are just icing on the cake. PS Just be an adult and be nice. It's easy.
